About

Hello! I'm Matthew Hodges, a passionate educator and financial analyst based in Iowa City, IA. With graduate degrees in Sustainable Development, Finance, and Business Analytics from the University of Iowa, I bring a unique blend of environmental insight and financial acumen to my roles. My academic journey also includes a Bachelor's in Ancient Civilization, enriching my perspective with a deep appreciation for historical contexts and their impact on modern issues.
As a Teaching Assistant at the Tippie College of Business, I lead labs in Database Management, where I not only instruct but also cultivate a learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience. My teaching philosophy is built on the pillars of courage, empathy, and humility—values that guide me as I help students navigate the complexities of business analytics and database management.
In industry roles, I have demonstrated strong analytical skills, from conducting equity research at the Henry Fund to developing financial models for public-private partnerships. My internship at Prairie Capital Advisors further honed my abilities in valuation and economic research, preparing me to tackle diverse challenges in the financial sector.
Beyond academics and professional endeavors, I am deeply committed to community service. My volunteer work ranges from serving at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics to leading initiatives like the Keokuk Community School District Robotics Team. These experiences underscore my belief in the power of community engagement and education in fostering sustainable development.
I am eager to bring my expertise in teaching, financial analysis, and community service to a dynamic new role. Let’s connect and explore how we can collaborate towards sustainable and financially sound solutions.
